Information Release –Structure Fire
On January 12, 2022 at approx. 12:26 pm. a report of a garage fire was reported in the 100 block of Fisher Court. The notification was received through the 911 system managed by Archuleta County Combined Dispatch center.
Upon arrival, the first arriving units completed a scene size up noting a fully involved attached garage. A second alarm was activated. The first due engine initiated a transitional fire attack applying water from the exterior and quickly moving to the interior of the structure to extinguish. The garage was heavily damaged but vintage musical equipment was salvaged from the upstairs studio.
PFPD responded with two engines, one rescue truck, two chief vehicles, one fire marshal vehicle, two support vehicles, 11 paid staff members, and six volunteers. One PSMC ambulance staged on scene to provide medical care if necessary. Mutual aid response from Upper Pine Fire & Rescue was requested and then stood down once the fire was controlled.
PFPD was on scene for approx. four hours.
The residence was occupied at the time of the fire, with both residents self-evacuating prior to fire apparatus arrival. One resident was treated for minor burns and released on scene.
There are no firefighter injuries to report. The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation.
